Call for papers (Aachen conference)

Participants of the 2023 Aachen Conference on Decoding are invited to submit their contributions to die hochschullehre and Didaktiknachrichten.

General invitation to submit articles

The recent Decoding the Disciplines conference in Aachen demonstrated the continued vitality of the field and its expansion into new areas. The success of the conference has convinced us that it is time to publish two new volumes of articles about Decoding that captures the current state of the work and inspires a new generation of scholars to join in the endeavor.

The series Die Hochschullehre and Didaktik-Nachrichten have agreed to publish one volume online each, and we invite you to submit an article for inclusion. We will divide the submissions between the two journals. Die Hochschullehre is a bilingual journal on teaching in higher education. Didaktik-Nachrichten is the journal of the Bavarian Center for Innovative Teaching (see here for a previous issue on Decoding). The volumes will be in English.

Here is the essential information:

  • We welcome articles on both theoretical examinations of the Decoding paradigm and particular applications of the approach.
  • All submissions should be in English. The length should be about 23,000 characters (including spaces), but must not exceed 34,500 characters. This corresponds to about 10-15 pages. References need to conform to the APA standard.
  • The text should not include any information that reveals the identity of the authors.
  • All submission will be done using the web interface of Die Hochschullehre no later than April 15, 2024.
  • All articles will be reviewed anonymously by scholars experienced in Decoding.
  • Authors will be informed by late July 2024 whether their articles will be included, and they will be provided with feedback from the reviewers.
  • Authors whose articles have been accepted will have until the end of September 2024 to make final revisions.
  • The volume is expected to be made available to the public by January 2025.
  • A template for your contribution will be made available here, soon.

You may also wish to read the corresponding call to be published on the webpage of Die Hochschullehre.

We hope that you will join us in this effort to make the richness of current scholarship on Decoding available to a larger audience. If you have any questions, please email us at decodingconference@fh-aachen.de.

Thank you for your time.
