What Comes after the Interview? An Exploration of the Modeling and Practice Steps of Decoding

Decoding SIG Webinar February 12, 2025

Not surprisingly, most of the attention to Decoding the Disciplined has focused on the first two steps of the process. But effectively modeling and providing opportunities for practice are also essential for helping students get past bottlenecks to learning,  and these steps alsodeserve theoretical attention..

In this webinar we will open a discussion of these important parts of the Decoding process by:

·        Sharing specific examples of Decoding modeling and practice from our own courses

·        Discussing how Decoding can become the central organizing principle for an entire course.

·        Providing opportunities for participants to brainstorm together about how particular sets of bottlenecks and mental operations from their courses might be modeled and practiced by students.

Participants are encouraged to think in advance of places in a course where modeling and practice would be particularly useful.
